The CEB is committed to balancing the delivery of reliable and affordable energy with the transition to a sustainable future. While renewable energy remains central to our vision, meeting growing energy demands requires firm power generation through conventional means.
To address this, we are pursuing projects that ensure a stable electricity supply while exploring alternative, lower-impact fuel sources. These efforts reflect our dedication to integrating more renewables into the energy mix and achieving a greener, sustainable future.
RENEWABLE ENERGY EXPANSION
The CEB continues to make steady progress in renewable energy development, supported by contributions from both private and public initiatives. Key highlights include:
- Private Sector Initiatives: Several renewable energy projects have been implemented or are underway by large to medium private power producers, significantly boosting the nation’s renewable energy capacity.
- Henrietta Solar PV Farm Extension: An additional 8 MW capacity was commissioned in 2024, marking a significant milestone for CEB-owned projects.
- Floating PV at Tamarind Falls Reservoir: This pilot project, upon expansion, will contribute an additional 30 MW, showcasing our commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions.
- Tamarind Falls Power Station Upgrade: In October 2024, a new 4.3 MW high-efficiency hydro turbine replaced outdated units, offering remote operation from Champagne Power Station and grid synchronization in under three minutes.
- Small-Scale Distributed Generation (SSDG) Schemes: These initiatives, at different stages of implementation, empower households, NGOs, and small businesses to actively participate in the renewable energy transition.
- Rodrigues Solar PV Farm: The commissioning of a 1 MW solar PV farm at Grenade in 2024 reinforces our dedication to sustainability and renewable energy adoption.
These efforts, driven by CEB and private stakeholders, underline our shared commitment to a greener and more sustainable energy future.
