ADVANCED DISTRIBUTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (ADMS): ENHANCING GRID EFFICIENCY AND RELIABILITY

The CEB is committed to modernising its distribution system to deliver a more reliable and efficient energy supply. A key initiative in this endeavour is the implementation of an Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) at the CEB System Control.

What is ADMS?

The ADMS is a cutting-edge system designed to enhance the monitoring, control, and fault management of the distribution network. By integrating real-time data and advanced analytics, the ADMS provides a comprehensive view of the grid, enabling proactive decision-making and faster response to issues.

Key Features:

  1. Improved Fault Management:
ADMS facilitates swift fault detection, isolation, and restoration, minimising service disruptions.
  2. Enhanced Monitoring and Control:
The system provides a detailed, real-time overview of the distribution network, improving operational visibility.
  3. Integration of Distribution Remote Terminal Units (RTUs):
Additional RTUs and load break switches are being deployed across the network to enhance automation and remote operation capabilities.
  4. Extension of Fibre Optic Network:
The distribution system will be integrated with an expanded fibre optic network, ensuring seamless communication and data transfer across all components.
  5. SCADA Compatibility:
ADMS is fully compatible with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, ensuring smooth integration with future technological upgrades.

Building a Smarter Grid

The implementation of ADMS represents a significant step towards creating a smart, modern, and responsive energy network. By leveraging state-of-the-art technologies, the CEB aims to deliver improved service quality, reduced outages, and a more sustainable energy future for Mauritius.
