In line with the national objective of promoting energy security and food security, as enunciated in the Budget Speech 2023-2024, the Central Electricity Board (CEB) is pleased to announce the launch of the CEB Agrivoltaics (CAV) Scheme to the general public. In the initial and current phase of the Scheme, the CEB will only consider applications from potential project developers in the Agricultural Sector. This includes planters and breeders who are engaged in or planning to undertake agricultural activities aimed at contributing to national food security. Applicants should provide evidence of registration or recognition from a relevant local public authority.
A total cumulative capacity of 20 megawatts has been earmarked for Mauritius and 1 megawatt for Rodrigues. Each renewable energy facility (solar source only) that will be accepted under the Scheme should have a capacity of less than 500 kilowatts ac (500 kWac).
As a major incentive to meet the dual objectives of food security and energy security, under the CAV Scheme, the CEB will exceptionally provide an energy export tariff rate of Rs 5.00 per kWh.
Eligible project developers interested in participating in the Scheme are strongly encouraged to thoroughly review the pertinent details about the Scheme. Information regarding the Scheme is accessible on the CEB website at https://ceb.mu.
Applicants must download and submit the relevant application form duly filled. All submissions, along with the required documents and information, should be submitted to a CEB Customer Services Centre from 29 July 2024 onwards.
