Grid Infrastructure
More than 11,000 km of overhead lines and underground cables bring electricity to every corner of Mauritius.
11,151.0km of network in total
9,985.0km overhead
1,166.0km underground
4,970MVA of transformer capacity (March 2025)
Network length by voltage level
At 30 June 2025, the transmission and distribution network covered more than 11,000 km across the island. During the year (July 2024 to June 2025) the overhead network grew by 88 km and the underground network by 24 km.

Why the grid keeps growing
- Accommodate increasing electricity demand.
- Enhance reliability and resilience, especially in urban and high-density areas.
- Reduce transmission and distribution losses.
- Integrate renewable energy sources, supporting the transition to a sustainable energy future.
